Well, CX has ok planes and in-cabin service... But their ground, telephone and online services... just sucks. If they can not get basics working right, I don't really care if they serve better meal on board. For example: I am still waiting for the refund for ticket cancelled on October.
CX has build good image of their service. Anyhow, based on my experience it is nothing special on board. Just standard international airline service.
I know I might get something even lower than that with CZ and MU, but I would be happy to give them a try. (but if they do not offer status match, will take rest of the year to become gold and maybe in that time MH is already in OW)
If you think CX is bad, you shouldn't try any Chinese carrier. You'll find substantially worse phone and online services, not to mention a subpar inflight product.
