As others have said, BACS is UK only. You need the SWIFT transfer.
Sending money like this does leave you vulnerable to fraud - but I'm not saying don't do it. I have done it myself - to secure holiday properties in Italy and South Africa - and everything worked very smoothly. (Well - I say smoothly - the South African banking system was far easier to deal with than the Italian one......)
What I did, and I presume you've already done this , is do additional checks to try and satisfy yourself that the other party is genuine and that the property is where they say it is.
- Checks such as the bank account name matching the person you are dealing with and being held at a branch the seems "logical" to their circumstances.
- Checking the property on google street view. You must have a full address and postcode - if you're unfamiliar with postal addressing system here do come back and ask for more help.
- A google check for that name in case of anyone reporting problems or a scam.
