we are planing to go to our delayed honeymoon in August this year and I got quotes for Qantas tickets that I can upgrade to Premium economy as I have been saving up my FF points.

The flight from Syd -> Lon is $2790 per person and its upgradeable

The other option is $2392 per person and its NOT upgradeable. Thats total difference of $800.

Now Im happy to pay for the more expensive flight but can someone tell me how "easy" will it be to get the premium economy upgrade? Is it possible to find out in advance if seats are available and if I can upgrade right away after purchase?

Has anyone been through this process and can share their experiences? Are the upgrades easily available ? I only ask as I dont want to pay extra $800 if I wont be able to upgrade.

Finally how can I find out if the fare quote is "Discount Economy" or "Full Economy" ?
