I fly out of SFO and about 80k of my miles come from flying SFO-NRT and SFO-BKK (about 5 r/t). I fly domestically only once or twice a year. Since domestic UGs don't seem to be happening and int'l UGs are non-existent on my routes, what's the point to reach 1k other than extra 25% award miles?
I just booked PDX-SFO-NRT/KIX-SFO-PDX yesterday and UGs cleared both ways immediately using SWUs. So UGs are possible on those routes and SWUs from being 1K a great way to get them.
Mine were for hitting MM status just under the wire.
