If i was compensated for every time a fire alarm has gone off in all my years staying in Marriott brands, I could spend, eh, a month or so at say, Harbor Beach for free!

That said....as a former associate, yes false alarms are a PITA...in our town we were allowed to stop the bells...ONLY after appointed people investigated (IE: engineers, security and a manager or 3).

The associates at the FD and hotel operators had their hands full answering phones, LOOKING at the alarm panel and sending the responders to the alarm location...not to mention dealing with the alarm company, police, fire and the like!

Would hot coffee be nice? sure, but there may not have been anyone around to go make it.....the associates have to keep the guests, AND PROPERTY safe from FIRE first....

I've never asked for compensation....though there were a few times when it was offered...once the room was comped, and one time we got a lot of points. I also had a stay comped at another hotel when the Biscayne Bay Marriott was evacuated during a total power failure in Miami during Hurricane Wilma. We were totally surprised that we didn't get a bill for the stay.
