I feel bad for you, OP, but why would you book a ticket on a website without knowing or even trying to find out the rules of the ticket and the change fees? If you wanted to change so quickly, wouldn't "farelock" have been your best bet?

This is the entire issue with "kayakers". Not saying you are one, but you did mention it.
