I agree people shouldn't impose on others bringing onboard maxed out bags and multiple bags they can't manage themselves just to save a checked bag fee. But there are legitimate reasons we all have for not checking certain vital stuff like meds, valuables, and a change of clothes is case of overnight delay. Would you really begrudge someone needing help putting their necessities bag in the overhead? Tables be turned, someday that person needing help might be you.
