A lot of times, people dont check things in to save $$$. So at this point, those who aren't able to handle all their items they bring on the plane are expecting others to help them in order for them to save money - which goes beyond being disrespectful and just downright selfish.
Purely your own perception -- and, in any case, not at all the situation that was described in the original post. So, why go into these inflammatory hypotheticals?
