Thanks for the feedback.
My debate between taking the train for all my travels v. renting a car for part of the trip is an interest in wine tasting in Tuscany.
Like many of us, my spouse and I love visiting wineries, including the wine tasting, the scenery, the great food, and the general, relaxing ambiance that comes with it. We used to go on wine trails quite a bit in Washington state.
Question: does Tuscany have a wine tourism scene that one could enjoy over a day or two?
(A friend of mine said that Tuscany's wineries are generally not equipped for visitors akin to Napa Valley or Columbia Valley)
If yes, then I figure I have two options:
1. Take the trains from Nice - Ventimiglia - Alasso. Rent a car in Alasso. And, wine taste to Florence. Drop off the rental. Enjoy Florence. Then, train it to Venice. Enjoy Venice. Train it to Rome.
2. Take the trains from Nice - Ventimigilia - Milan - Venice. Enjoy Venice for a day or two. And, Rent a car in Venice. Wine tasting in route to Florence. Drop off the rental car. Enjoy Florence. Train it to Rome (or wherever else we have scheduled next).
Thoughts?
