I nearly crashed 5 times last night getting home from work and my journey took almost 2 hours instead of the normal 20 minutes. It was touch and go whether I'd have to abandon my car and walk a number of miles. Thankfully I just made it, despite being very scared when the car continually skid all over the road. But we are at the mercy of the weather in the same way as everybody else, sadly.
The majority of staff are not ticket trained (though would like to be). Please write in to BA to say you find this unacceptable.
Totally agree! Well done to all the BA and other staff who got up at stupid o'clock this am, and drove in appalling conditions to LHR. I for one would not like to attempt to negotiate secondary roads (never mind those country roads) for any distance at all in heavy snow and fog in the middle of the night. I can only imagine that driving conditions around especially the West of LHR on those roads were a nightmare and that crawling your way to LHR in those conditions at that time was a real challenge (and not very pleasant). Gritters were out our way at about 1700 the night before but this was totally nullified by the heavy snow dump later. Driving alone along deserted roads not knowing if your going to get stuck at any moment is an intimidating experience for experienced drivers. Hats off to you. ^
