yeah, the center section, even if it appears to be an emergency row, is not considered the exit row for seating purposes. It is the seats that immediately adjacent to the exit door that count. (The rationale being, of course, that children are not strong enough or mature enough to operate the door as needed in an emergency and also that in an emergency parents would be preoccupied with their children and not operate the exit properly and/or impede access of others to the exit.)
