As a matter of fact maybe someone can help with this. Why taxes & fees on exactly the same route BOS-Toronto round trip, are different for Porter and Air Canada with the exception that Porter flies into Toronto Island while Air Canada flies into Pearson (with one of the most expensive landing fees in the world). Taxes and fees are $117.49 on Porter and $72.99 on Air Canada. Makes no sense to me.
Many possible reasons for that. AC being a large-scale user of Pearson may have negotiated more favourable landing fees, they may be trying to undercut a competitor, etc. Taxes (government-levied) should be identical for identical flights, but fees and charges may vary wildly depending on the carrier.
