In the mid 90's I made MVP just by flying ANC-Magadan-Vladivostok on Alaska several times a year. The service was curtailed when the plane was striped when overnighting in Vladivostok prior to returning. They used to fly it in a MD80 and carried their own plane mechanic on board plus loads of spare parts. It was the wrong plane for the job because there was not enough room in the hold for all the baggage and thus many check bags were stored under empty seats and even in the galley. You are correct in saying that the scenery is fantastic. I always stayed glued to the window once we had cleared the Bering Sea. But it was always nice to return to ANC and it's smooth runway.
