I grew up in Tulsa and have a recent stay experience at the aloft. I would probably avoid the property and stay downtown.

The hotel is in the middle of a very commercial corridor. It's near the largest mall in Tulsa (Woodland Hills) but generally devoid of culture.

I would suggest looking into the Mayo or the Ambassador hotels. If you want to stay in the neighborhood of the aloft, look into the Renaissance.

The aloft is still very rough around the edges and should be avoided.

For cuter shops and a better shopping experience than Woodland Hulls, check out Utica Square (generally a more high end experience, including a Saks) and Brookside.

Philbrook and Gilcreese are both excellent museums and well worth checking out.

If you like gambling, the Hard Rock casino is a decent option.
