I was initially a fan of moderation myself but watching the hypocritical and inconsistent application of policies by many moderators on different forums I fear that my support for the concept has eroded somewhat.</font>
Unfortunately, I am somewhat inclined to at least partially agree with B747-437B.
In most of the forums, the moderators are doing an excellent job. To give an example, the UAL moderators are a class act, even though they have to contend with several FTers who have sworn to perpetually flame bait via ad hominem attacks.
On the other hand, the moderators in some of the other forums have not remained impartial "adjudicators", and exercise their moderating powers in a manner unbecoming of the position. I won't name names here, but taking a good look at the forums will indicate where this is taking place.
