got it. i didn't realize that the programs were still separate. i thought the whole idea behind this avios change was that BA was consolidating airmiles, ba, iberia, etc. all into this single "avios" brand. i'm only familiar with BAEC.
Avios is a single currency, not a single scheme.

The three schemes that use it BAEC, IB plus, and what was previously called airmiles.co.uk remain three separate schemes, with a common currency but their own t&c, rules and partners etc and crucially individual independent balances.

A bit like three banks, say NatWest, Barclays and HSBC. You could have a bank account at each, denominated in the same currency (e.g. The pound sterling) but you have a separate balance at each. Each has it's own rules, etc.

Confusingly though, the scheme that was called Airmiles UK has itself also been called Avios (the same name as the common currency) and is found at Avios.com
But it is currently just a scheme like any other using Avios, with its own differences, own partners etc. you do not need an account there to use Avios the currency.
