So I will add that as a long time QF Premium Cabin FF I too have swapped to DJ for domestic business. I spent most of last year being able to buy Premium/ Business for the same price as a QF flexi saver which makes it an obvious choice. Even flew my mum Premium (the product described above) on two occasions and DJ far exceeded anything she has ever gotten on QF in domestic business.
FWIW the DJ Premium seat is pretty much the same as the QF 734 seat and QF has far more of these flying around pretending to be business (and sold as business) than DJ has.
My recent QF business experience highlights was SYD-ADL-SYD for the Tour Down Under. Check in at SYD was a joke, as we had bikes we couldn't use the quick check machines so lined up at business class checkin which had 50 people already in the line at 6:30am in the morning and was promptly redirected out of the line by ground staff back the the quick check machines. Of course the bag drop machine wouldn't accept our bags and had to convince oversized baggage to take our normal luggage as well as bike bags. The return was no better, checked in an hour before flight, lined up for 50 minutes in oversized to drop bikes off, flight was then on final call, got lecture on boarding in a timely manner from crew, bikes didn't make the flight. That's how QF treat 1 Gold and 1 Platinum FF in business.
So faced with the choice of DJ or JQ for LST flights for the Coles Bay Triathlon in 2 weeks DJ at an extra $500 return and connection through Melbourne was an easy choice, even if we couldn't get into business. DJ is even significantly more generous with baggage allowance for Platinums than QF (let alone JQ).
