I am among the non-mostly who think that connecting in CDG is not easy, especially for foreigners and those who frequently use the airport for an AF-AF transfer. But even then, it can be bad if you get bussed around as happens too often.
1h20min can be a risky connection at any airport. Here, you will have to change terminal and go through immigration and security. EF quotes an average delay of 18min for AF2305 from FCO. So an average you should be fine (1hr is enough usually).
