Nice idea, but the lap child doesn't get a boarding pass, because they have no seat assignment. Typically we got a little piece of paper stapled onto the adult's boarding pass, and no mileage credit (3 transpacific flights before our daughter was 2).
On another poster's comments, we had no problem getting mileage credit for the paid seats for our under 2's- in fact, one was *A Gold...
