I see, understood. Being from LAX, I'm sure you've been there - and I wouldn't recommend something else like those low-rise ones (I think they had balcony units) behind the main towers of Circus Circus - stayed there once b/c our primary choices were sold out, never again - TG it's gone.
Another one comes to mind is an old-timer, Orleans on the other side of the freeway on Tropicana Ave, they have shuttles to the strip and deluxe rooms are 450 SF in size, Trops at 400 SF -
(corrected- NO )low rise units , not sure if they have walk-out balconies but we passed by them all the time going over to Spring Mountain Blvd. area for meals. The area is okay but nothing really exciting going on, some not so desirable ... Mid-week rates look fairly reasonable and like most places, Priceline or Hotwire is definitely an option to book a cheap night or two (loved the insider's tips on better bidding . com)
Vegas has very strict & updated fire & building codes (post 1980 with the fire) so we feel safe going out there - we're recently horrified during a brief power outage on the East with a 5 star casino hotel property on an Indian preservation, walked down 18 stories mostly in the dark as emergency exit lights were either non-existent or failed to work until we reached floor 6 or 7. Fortunately, we're abled & backpacked it down as it was peak checkout time and I always carry a mini LED flashlight, came in very handy with DW in tow, other guests used their smartphone to illuminate their path coming down. Not cool - wrote to the hotel management, received a thank you form letter reply & no followup since then, I'm still not pleased - imagine a real, smokey fire at night or complete blackout.
Regardless, have a safe & fun time - our favorite annual destinations, even if it's just 4 to 6 days ...
