Maybe not, but you shouldn't have to do it in CW, unless you happen to want a drink between drink rounds and can't be bothered to press the call button.
You make it sound like asking them to come round here and there is an unreasonable request...
To be honest, i'm often surprised when traveling Y on BA that the crew actually do tend to come round fairly often with trays of drink in addition to the trolly rounds, which is often more than they bother to do in J.
