Typically after the 2nd or third bell the message tends to be received and the service becomes a bit more proactive.

I have had situations however where the call button in my seat just wasn't working, in those situations a lack of service is massively annoying.
Of course only my personal opinion, but i feel rude using the call button.
It feels like i am ordering someone about, and I wouldn't like it done to me.
But i suppose if they came round often enough no one would need to press it!

Also just my personal preference, but i like to get out of my seat quite often to stretch my legs. sitting still for 7/8 hours to the east coast is too much for me.

I always find these posts a little odd. People are happy to post there discontent on forums like this one but won't actually report there dissatisfaction on the flights in question.
I would feel awkward mentioning this on board, Its up to the senior staff on board to manage there staff, not me!
If they cant or wont do this then i would feel that it could affect my service further. (not that I have had any bad service on BA or any other airline for that matter that i felt needed a complaint of any sort)
