I used the pacsafe portable safe while traveling through southeast asia and most of Europe, and the only problem I found with it was difficulty finding something secure to lock it to. I did feel more secure with my valuables in the pacsafe rather then the hotel safe, which we've had problems with before. If doing it again I'd probably go with the mesh-style bag protectors though.
