For example, in 2002, they offered double stays promotion and if you had 20 stays and undertook, 3 stays, that would have brought you to 26 stays under the double stay promotion which would have given you Platinum status.
However, with the adjustments Starwood made at the beginning of the year with your total stay and night credit (as indicated in your SPG account), this effectively adjusted your Platinum status years which would have brought the 2002 status from Platinum to Gold.
I think this is ridiculous for Starwood to do this as the offer for double stay was at their discretion and as members, we supported their initiative/promotion and then they remove this from the system.
Lurkers, can we get clarification on this?
There were quite a few promos in previous years that would allowed someone to gain Plat status without hitting a full 25 nights/50 stays. I guess even people doing the Plat challenge would also be affected.
Here's the wording for the Lifetime Plat :
Enjoy Platinum membership status for life when you achieve 500 eligible nights total and any 10 years of Platinum SPG status since joining the program.
Many of us met the conditions to gain Plat status that SPG published for any particular year. It seems ridiculous to retroactively say that those years didn't count.
