OK just spoke to Qantas - they can change my ticket from TPE-HKG-SYD to PVG-HKG-SYD for a nominal fee

.

Question now is, if I buy a ticket (either on points or cash) TPE-PVG, stay less than 48 hours in Shanghai and then fly PVG-HKG, will this qualify despite being two separate tickets?
