I've not experienced that but nothing infuriates a pax more, I guess, than to be in the airport scrambling to get to the connecting gate only to find that your flight departed EARLY (or to have the door closed EARLY and a refusal to open it). I've seen it several times at DTW on DL/NW. OTOH, I had an AS GA waiting at the gate for eight of us on a late MSP-ANC flight with like eight minutes to connect to ANC-AKN. With that escort we made it on time!
