It does seem rather soon to cancel a flight, unless an aircraft has gone tech BA have no substitute available.
Could perhaps be mitigating against potential weather disruption tomorrow? 'Tis going to snow at Heathrow tomorrow by all accounts. I'll believe it when I see it.
It has also been very snowy in Central and Eastern Europe - so perhaps there are a few stranded aircraft? Haven't heard of any additional canx though.
