I stayed last week and got upgraded to a premier deluxe (I think this is what they called it) room on the 20th floor. It was one of the refurbished ones. I think the room decor is top notch. Noise was not a problem. The pool on the 5th floor was beautifully lit at night. The refurbished lobby is elegant and modern. There's plenty of dining options on the property, but I wanted to sample the hawker centres around the city, so I can't tell you whether or not they were good.

The lounge on 27 was very generous with the food that they offered; they had way more choices than I've seen at any US property. The lounge has a cocktail hour, serves a rotating selection of light apps for a couple hours, and dessert. In the morning, there is cereal, juices, rice & noodle dishes, eggs, pastries, and fruit. I did not see mobs of children or "big folks" as other posts have mentioned (unless as a slightly overweight 26 year old, they were talking about me).

The location is great, the Orchard Road MRT is right in front of the hotel. There's plenty of upscale shopping in the area, if that's your thing.

One thing I thought was pretty funny is that the hotel bar, located adjacent to the elevators, is open until 6am every night. I checked it out after a long night of clubbing and wasn't overly impressed. If you want to get your late night drink on, I guess it's ok. When I checked out at 5am Friday morning, I heard pounding techno music in the lobby and there were definitely people still there.

My one complaint is that having twin beds is a little ridiculous.
