it must be in transit to a third country (specifically ruling out any flight which returns you to your country of origin).
Your ticket would be returning you to Hong Kong, so not valid.
If you purchased an onwards ticket PVG-TPE that would be ok.
(if by some chance your TPE-HKG-PVG had all been one flight number that might have been different!)
