Some of my advice is dated, so keep that in mind.

In 2004, I had to fly in Class As (Dress Uniform) to escort a fallen Soldier home. I was wanded but didn't have to remove anything. I did have to open up my jacket so they could wand, but this was done in privacy (this was in Philadelphia). That next year, coming back from R&R leave in cammo uniform, I had to remove my boots. I believe that is changed and you no longer have to do that.

Do you have to fly in uniform? I'd steer clear of it personally to avoid the unwanted attention.
