I was just there two weekends ago, during CNY. Did not see the sun once the entire stay, and it pretty much rained all day. I live in Jakarta, and it has been a stange rainy season so far. You are right, it is USUALLY sunny in mornings, and rainy in afternoons. However, it has been different this year on Java. Cloudy all day, but with less rain in the afternoon.
I'm headed back to Bali for a weekend in early March, praying to see some sun as well.
