For those pointing out that DL doesn't offer it's Economy Comfort for free to its Silver and Gold Medallions, while that is true, they do still offer Exit Rows for free at booking to all elites. As a Silver Medallion with them I've never booked a flight where I couldn't get an exit row if I wanted it.
Unfortunately, there are those of us for whom Economy Comfort/Plus is a good thing but we cannot (due to disability in my case) book an exit row.
I don't know of a way in either UA or DL to mark that I can't use an exit row, so I'm always afraid I'll be upgraded into one then have to decline and sit in E- as a consequence.
UA does have profile settings for people who need wheelchairs, but I don't fit cleanly into the "needs assistance" category; I just need extra time boarding because I'm slow.
