I fly SFO-LHR quite a bit and I noticed the 1" difference in the seat width. The 744 has a 23" wide seat and the 346 is 22". Note that the upper deck on the 744 has the 22" as well. So I usually go for the front section on the lower deck. It's usually just as quiet as the upper with full UC bit you get more room.
