Nice to hear the OP share his limited experiences, but the fact remains CDG is a mess and inconsistent (strikes, etc.).

I'll add to the sentiments here that progress is being made with the new terminals, which are well designed and are slowly reducing the need for bussing. But given the choice, I stay away from CDG and make AMS is my #1 choice for transfer in Europe.
