One hour is quite common at MIA and JFK. The handlers at JFK are outsourced/subcontracted; not sure about MIA.

The worst at MIA is when you have an onward connection and checked bags! A big reason why I haven't checked any bags on AA in over four years. It's just not worth the pain of waiting.
