I feel like I've sufficiently researched train options, traveling from Nice to Venice or Nice to Florence.
Now, I'm exploring renting a car once on the Italian-side of the border and returning it to Venice or Florence.
What's the best place to pick up a rental car once in Italy (traveling from Nice) with the intent of touring through Tuscany?
I don't see a pick-up location in Ventimiglia.
if you are going to ride on the trains, get and use a bike lock for your luggage.
as a matter of fact, you may want to go to milan, venice, and florence by train before you pick up the car. all you can do with a car in those three citys is pay big parking fees. i's also skip milan in the first place. trains in italy are cheap, clean and fast. they do have food, but i have always been able to picnic on the train.
looks to me like there is none. i did a proof booking, and when monaco is used, there seems to be a $900 surcharge.
where do you plan to spend first night in italy? guess i would consider picking up car next morning in that location. i have picked up cars in milan, florence, and venice. unless they have changed the laws, do not pick up at the airport, as there was a10% airport tax, in venice, you do not have to go to vce, there are pickup offices at p roma.
