Would be great if you could explain from a legal standpoint what it means to buy a ticket from a TA involving a codeshare flight marketed by airline A but operated by airline B and what kind of binding agreements exist between the parties? Isn't the TA a simple intermediary between the contractual parties traveler and airline A?

As said until now, the only thing expedia said is "bring it up with the cc company or your insurance". My travel insurance does indeed cover airline bankruptcy, but am afraid they may eventually refuse my claim because expedia is the one having to sort it out.

If your travel insurance covers airline bankruptcy then immediately file a claim with them; they probably even have an emergency number you can contact and will even pay for your continuing flight or at least the difference between the new flight and the old one on JK if there is a fare increase. If they deem that expedia is the one that needs to pay you then they will subrogate the claim and go after expedia themselves (most likely only if the claim is a over $1000.00 although I have subrogated smaller claims in my day).
