There was no flash. The camera's position indicates is at the side of the road, right next to some bushes. Had I seen any flash, it would have alerted me to the position of a camera and I certainly wouldn't have driven at that speed on that road again.

Defending yourself on the internet is clearly pointless, but i'll have a go anyway - 10 years driving in europe (approximately 200,000km in this time) without a single penalty. The speed I was driving on the same particular road here was entirely safe for that vast, empty bit of road. I know how to drive safely. I'm sorry, but two lanes and no corners for 15km is safe to drive at 110kph on. It doesn't excuse my lack of adhering the the law, of course, but in no world am I a "menace" on the road.

Anyway, I've decided to write a letter enquiring about all the charges, hopefully some can be lessened - as a foreigner I was not aware of the double demerit situation, so hopefully some of the penalties can be reduced. Not expecting any miracles, though.
