Suites are specifically excluded for Golds but Diamonds are now eligible for them. If the Diamonds are upgraded to the better rooms, I think this may actually open up more EL rooms.
Actually, the
specific exclusion is for "executive suites", and both Gold and Diamond are excluded. Suites (generically) are included for Diamonds, but not mentioned for Golds (except at W=A, which is tragically irrelevant for me).
Which is encouraging to me -- it suggests that the random (but relatively frequent) suite upgrades I've been getting as a Gold are not explicitly excluded, and may continue.
