We flew from LA to Sydney via Fiji on 01/01/12 and Auckland via Fiji to LA on 01/24/12. All flights were delayed for a total of more than 8 hours - from 1/2 hour to more than 4 hours. Cabin was kept uncomfortably cold. During transfer at Fiji, during heavy rain, one of of bags was dropped in water. When we arrived back in LA, we discovered the contents of this suitcase was all wet. All clothing had to be washed, with many items sent for cleaning. Suitcase is ruined. This was immediately reported via e-mail. We have not yet received even an acknowledgement of this situation. Even though we flew business class, the food was mediocre at best. Beside meals, no other attempt was made to offer any refreshments. We have flown most major carriers during the past 40 years and this has been our absolute worst experience. I could never recommend this airline.

02/06/12 - At last received an answer regarding our suitcase damage issue. We were told that since we did not report a problem at the airport the company would not do anything for us. So how do you deal with concealed damage???

By the way - while waiting in the business class lounge (at Nadi, Fiji Airport), we were speaking with another couple returning from their honeymoon. Their flight to Sydney was delayed. They were later told to board the plane. As the plane sat at the terminal a meal was served. After the meal, everyone had to get back off the plane. Seems that the Sydney airport does not allow any air traffic between 11 PM and 9 AM. The newlywed's flight could not make it in time to avoid the 11 PM deadline so they had to sleep in the lounge until the next morning. Nice way to begin married life.
