Non US elite *G's aren't entitled to US Choice seats just as US elites aren't entitled to E+. Sometimes a GA will give you a better seat.
I have often booked a US flt 2 or 3 weeks out and no regular seat was available. Upon checking in online the system assigned me a choice seat. Nothing special really just closer to the front, kind of like CO's premium seats.
