I have a value of $625 in my Chase rewards account and $1000 value in my Thank You account which I could use to book flights through their travel services. I also have access to a 15% discount for tickets purchased through Spirit Incentives as a Thank You Premier card holder if the flights I want are available. I would fly to SFO in the evening and fly back on the RedEye flight which I could do any day the RedEye is available. Also have the option of LAX but the mileage is less for each trip, but is an option. I would fly between LAX/SFO and ORD if I could work it out. I am currently unemployed and have the time but do you (anyone reading this) think doing this is a good use of my resources and time. I do not fly that much now but would not mind taking some trips to Europe with the system wide upgrades.

Where do you draw the line at when determining the value of the Mileage runs and the pursuit of EXP status?
I don't mean to be harsh or nasty here, and I realize that I know very little about your situation, but it strikes me as a tad impractical for someone who is unemployed to be talking about spending money on unnecessary travel right now. If I were in your shoes, my focus would be on finding another job rather than obtaining airline status I'm not even sure I'd use.

Yes. Click on the "glossary" link that appears at the bottom of every page. You'll also find a wealth of information in the FAQs. It can be a bit overwhelming at first, but many of the questions you're asking (as well as a lot it hasn't even occurred to you to ask yet) are covered there.
