A couple of recent examples... 3 weeks ago last flight ORD-DFW at like 9pm'ish. There were about 8 people in F and at most 15-20 in coach including about 10 non-revs. Ironically I was booked in 10B and maybe 5th one on the flight (I wasnt going to waste 2 500-mile stickers on an empty flight). Sure enough the 6th person on the flight was another PLT in 10A. No joke, there was maybe 15 others in coach, and we booked next to eachother. We waited about 10 minutes and took our own row. Still a little shocked that AA didnt pro-actively upgrade the PLT's on a 50% full F. From the crowd and when they boarded, I would guess we were the only two on the flight not in F with status.
This week LAX-DFW on the 2nd to last flight. Flight had full F, but maybe 25 in Y. All of us in suits and boarded with PLT. They had to actually uproute about half Y to move them behind row 15 for weight and balance.
