Come on, let's be fair here.
This is a good thing. No airline runs perfectly, and a small token such as a $50 coupon goes a long way when customers are inconvenienced. And yes, it does get people out of an agent's face so they can do their job. It's a heck of a lot better than the "Tough. Deal with it." attitude we've grown accustomed to.
