Assuming he can't swing a better itinerary, our OP should take the #1 bus to PVG, plain and simple.
But, for local traffic, I'm now convinced that the subway (line 2 or 10) is absolutely the best way to/from SHA (T2 is a surprisingly long taxi ride from town).
