Your first post does not compare AA to NON US Airlines - it compares to all airlines - This post compares to international airlines.
IMO there are no domestic airlines in Business and First on international routes which compare to the quality of many airlines overseas. That AA doesn't compare with CX, SQ, LH, VS, and in South America - I've found LAN for the longer flights - excellent - I've also found AA quite good.
AA and several of the US airlines do compare with overseas airlines on some of the routes you fly - like PVG - LAX. The Chinese (Chine Eastern) airline options don't come close to AA on the non stops.
