Very true. Someone else posted here they did a paid one-way from MSP to a franchisee in Missoula MT. They switched from the expensive one-way rate to a roundtrip local rate, but also had to switch into a locally owned car.
This was me. To clarify, I did not seek to keep the same car. There was also a 2 day gap between returning the one way from MSP and picking up the new car at MSO. I was there for a family emergency and did not need a car in the interim period.
I also dropped off the MSP car at the Missoula airport location, and picked up the Missoula local car at the off-airport Missoula West Broadway location due to lower taxes and fees. I am under 25, and curiously the underage fee was $8 a day out of Missoula airport, but was $10 a day at the off-airport location. Also, my local rental out of Missoula was also a one-way back to Billings, MT which are both owned by the same franchisee.
