Flying Club World from Cancun to Gatwick with an onward flight to Dublin.

There is 4 hours+ between flights and I was wondering will I be able to exit and go to the arrivals lounge for a couple of hours? According to the BA website for international flights arriving at Gatwick and onwards to Ireland you have to go through immigration and customs, which leads me to believe that you are free to leave the terminal for a while and come back through security for your connecting flight. This would mean we should be able to access the lounge in the Sofitel Arora Hotel, correct?

Has anyone anyone any experiences of this connection or similar?
