Airports are expensive to build and maintain, they need revenue fom somewhere as they have no support from gov't.
YVR is one of the better managed airports in the country, hence why thy have kept their fees lower Han most others.
Where do landing fees, rent, advertisment paid by airlines go? Parking fees?
YVR does not have the prohibitive costs of snow removal and they enjoy the VLA landing fees from the Asian airlines.
Not sure how you can say "XXX is better managed airport"
