Whats My Recourse? (Reward Flt Delayed 30+ Hrs & Downgraded) Lufthansa/Continental

I booked a one way ticket on Lufthansa via Continental Rewards / Continental Website (StarAlliance) on a Business Class ticket from India to USA.

After being seated in the plane for over 2 Hrs at Delhi Airport, we were informed that the aircraft had developed Engine Trouble and would not take off that day. All baggage and passengers were offloaded.

The flight was rescheduled for the next day (24 Hrs Later) - The airlines did offer to provide Hotel.

I requested to be transferred to another airlines / flight if possible because I had urgent business meetings in US - but none was available as per Lufthansa ground staff (even though there was a scheduled flight next day, ahead of our flight on the same route).

The next day, the fight was again delayed by over 5 hours due to fog and we were made to sit inside the aircraft and wait it out. As a result of the delay, my connection from Frankfurt was missed.

The Lufthansa staff at the Frankfurt airport wasnt very helpful and after much argument, they put me on a United Flight in Economy for my second leg to IAD.

Whats my recourse in asking for a refund of my miles, since I arrived over 30 hours later and on a downgraded class....

I have written to both Lufthansa and Continental, but dont know what happens next.
